FreePress. net reports TRENTON, NJ: On Tuesday afternoon, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy delivered a budget speech outlining his vision for the upcoming fiscal year. Absent from the governor’s list of priorities, in both his speech and his released budget brief, was his prior commitment to fully fund the Civic Information Consortium, a first-of-its-kind initiative to strengthen local-news coverage and boost civic engagement across the state. Boston, MA: The Boston Globe, which declared itself a non newspaper of record under mogul owner John Henry, is asking industrial newspapers to fight together. On Thursday, more than 100 newspapers have been invited to publish editorials decrying Trump's anti-press rhetoric. The NEN&PA and the Boston Globe issued the following:
