NEWS STRONG news – Newark Mayor Ras Baraka’s administration turned away TV cameras and reporters from a lead water-related meeting at City Hall on Tuesday, despite announcing the meeting in a press release the day before. The meeting was supposed to be an opportunity for Newark residents to sign up as volunteers to help inform people about replacing tainted lead service lines using the $120 million loan the city recently received from Essex County. When reporters arrived Tuesday evening to cover the meeting and talk to residents, however, Baraka’s staff told them to leave and that only Newark residents were allowed inside City Hall.
